Beatrice will boast a capacity of up to 1GW if it goes ahead as planned some 11km beyond the existing demonstrator project, where two REpower 5MW machines have been spinning since 2007.

Bowl is a joint partnership between the UK’s SSE Renewables and Spain’s Repsol Nuevas Energias.

If approved by the Scottish Government – which has the final say – the construction of the wind farm could start in 2015 and the first power produced by summer 2018.
