The country’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy said buildingthe wind farms would require about NKr20bn ($3.3bn) – representing one of the biggestinvestments ever made in mainland Norway.

The government awarded licenses to local developers SAEVind, Sarepta Energi and Zephyr to build the wind farms, which will be located in the Trondheim area.

TSO Statnett was also given thego-ahead to build a 420kV transmission line.
