“Germany has theright technology, ports, ships, and qualified employees, [and] investors who want toinvest,” says Ronny Meyer, managing director of the wind energy agency WAB – a co-signatory of the so-called “Cuxhavenappeal” – which represents the offshore industry in Germany’s northwesternregion.

“But what obstructs thebuild-up is a lack of political security from the federal government,” Meyersaid. He added that jobs are already being shed in an industry employing18,000 people due to a lack of planning security in the sector.
