Moventas shakes up its structure
Finland’s Moventas has flagged up plans to put more distance between its wind and industrial gear operations.
Moventas – which also announced the departure of CEO Mikael Laine – earlier this month unveiled its acquisition of the wind gearbox division of David Brown Gear Systems, creating a new company called DB Wind UK.
Now it says it will run its two core operations more independently from each other.
Moventas will remain the wind industry brand, while the industrial gear business will be run under the Santasalo name.
Arto Lahtela, senior vice president for Wind Gears said: “The wind market has specific requirements that differ from other industrial gear markets.
“Our strategy concentrates fully on innovative technologies to serve customers as a strong onshore gearbox and service provider, and to become the leading offshore wind gearbox supplier.”
The rebranding and operational changes will be in place by the end of the year, Moventas said.
