The project would be located on 33,600 acres of State Trust Land southeast of Albuquerque. Agency officials say the site is large enough for an eventual 1,000MW project.
“Winning this bid is an important achievement in our ongoing efforts to bring the El Cabo project to fruition,” says Mark Stacy, Iberdrola Renewables’ development director.
The company still needs to complete permitting at the state and local levels before construction could begin, and has not set a range of dates when this could occur.
