Utility SSE, which is building the three-platform centre in Clydeport with business development body Scottish Enterprise, now expects to erect the 167-metre-rotor machine in May 2014, later than originally planned, after a new piling solution was used late last month.

"Difficult ground conditions found only on the second base have caused SSE challenges in the design of the turbine’s foundation. However, we are pleased to confirm that we have a technical resolution to overcome this issue approved and in place," saysan SSE spokeswoman.
