Finns hand Gamesa 5MW debut deal

Spanish wind group Gamesa has nailed the first order for its G128-5.0 MW turbines after striking a 15MW deal with Finnish developer TuuliWatti.

Gamesa will deliver three of the machines to a wind farm being developed by TuuliWatti in Salo, southern Finland.

They are scheduled for delivery in 2014, with the wind farm due for commissioning by the end of next year.

The order is part of a 135MW framework deal the two signed in 2012.

Gamesa claimed the 5MW turbines “specifically designed to withstand low temperatures, will be the biggest and most powerful installed to date in the Finnish market”.

The G128-5.0 MW is an evolution of the 4.5MW G128 version.  Gamesa has also deployed a 5MW machine offshore in the Canary Islands.
