Being built in 120metres of water off the coast of Fukushima prefecture with some $232m inbacking from the Japanese government, the experimental demonstrator aimsto spur deployment of as much as 1GW of offshore wind in the region.
The 66kV Kizunasubstation and 2MW Mirai semi-submersible floating turbine are slated to bejoined next year by a pair of 7MW Mitsubishi SeaAngel machines, aprototype of which is in the frame to be trialled at Scotland's Hunterston testcentre in the spring.
