The finance goes to local utility EBiH for its 16-turbine Podvelezje wind farm, being built about  760 metres above sea level on the plateau of the same name for a total cost of €71.8m.

The 15-year loan, with a three year grace period, comes under a co-operation deal between the German and Bosnian governments.

Bosnia has a handful of wind farms under construction, but is still heavily dependent on hydro and thermal generation for its power supplies.
