The 3,500-tonne HDVC-Light transmission system, developed by Swiss power giant ABB, will convert the electricity generated by E.ON's 400-megawatt Borkum 2 wind farm in the North Sea and transmit it to shore via a 175km DC cable into Germany's national grid.

Installation of the transformer station is being handled by another HFG company, Heerema Marine Contractors and is under way in 40 metres of water, 130km off the coast if Germany.
