Vattenfall says it has examined 20 turbines at Horns Rev 1 and another five at Kentish Flats, and concluded that the transition pieces connecting the towers to the monopile foundations that are sunk into the seabed must be repaired.
Recharge earlier reported that hundreds of North Sea turbines are under investigation after problems with a transition piece were found at a Dutch offshore wind farm last autumn.
