Scientists investigating the mysterious killings have linked some to the construction of the Sheringham Shoal wind farm. They believe the deaths could have been caused by a vessel with a ducted propeller that caused “corkscrew-style” mutilations on the seals’ bodies.
Over the past 18 months, more than 40 mutilated seals have been washed up on Norfolk beaches and in St Andrews Bay and the Firth of Forth in Scotland.
