The “Department of the Army Permit” allows developer Cape Wind Associates to build and maintain the first US offshore wind farm consisting of 130, 3.6MW turbines with a maximum authorized blade height of 440 feet (134.1 meters) in Nantucket Sound south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The permit also authorizes Cape Wind Associates to build offshore infrastructure to support the wind farm including a 33kV submarine transmission cable system that will connect the turbines with an electric collection point platform.
