“New Jersey is trying to be a leader in offshore wind,” Larry Ragonese, a spokesman for New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), tells Recharge. “This request is to find what interest is out there. We want to get past the lip service part of it.”
The request, known as a Call for Nominations, is issued through the US Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE), which regulates wind development in waters owned by the federal government.
