Shares in Beijing-based Sinovel jumped the most since its January listing in Shanghai, rising 8.8% to 60.99 yuan ($9.40) as of mid-morning Tuesday.

Sinovel’s new SL6000 series is geared, has a blade diameter of 128 metres, can withstand temperatures of -45°C and includes anti-corrosion systems adapted to the offshore environment.

The turbine - which Sinovel says is developed fully with its own intellectual property - will be targeted at offshore wind farms, a new growth area for China’s wind equipment makers suffering from overcapacity and a brutal price war.
