The NextEra Energy Resources project, which would be built on 9,000 acres crossing Michigan’s Tuscola, Bay and Saginaw counties, is currently in the engineering phase. Construction, which would employ about 250-275 people, is expected to start in 2012 and the project is scheduled to come online late that year.

The 20-year power purchase agreement moves DTE Energy more than halfway toward its renewable energy goal, says the Detroit-based energy company, which owns electric utility Detroit Edison.

The
