A £20m ($31.9) Lockheed Martin long-range radar system to replace the existing one at RAF Brizlee Wood, Northumberland, will be installed during the next 18 months, according to reports.
The new radar will allow the 144MW, 48-turbine Fallago Rig project on the Scottish borders, developed by North British Windpower, to go ahead and help to pave the way for wind farms facing objections nearby.
