Areva plans to create 1,000 local jobs as the lobbying battle to win French offshore wind projects heats up.

The 60-acre site at Le Havre, in the Haute-Normandie region of northwestern France, will play home to blade manufacture and nacelle assembly, according to a report in the newspaper Les Echoes.

It will be Areva’s first wind turbine plant in France and its second overall, adding to its existing facility in Bremerhaven, Germany, where it currently makes its flagship M5000 machines.
