Mitsubishi will unveil the architecture of what it claims is the “game-changing” turbine – called SeaAngel – at the EWEA Offshore conference in Amsterdam next week.

The turbine will have a rotor blade diameter of more than 165 metres and feature what Mitsubishi describes as “unique hydraulic technology”.

Initial prototype testing will begin next year, with full-scale prototype trials to take place in the UK in 2013.
