Under a $45m deal, Lockheed Martin TPS-77 Air Defence Radar (ADR) systems will be put in place by contractor Serco at radar stations in Northumberland and North Yorkshire, following the debut of the technology at a base in Norfolk.
It will result in the MoD scrapping planning objections to five wind farms, totalling 3.25GW of capacity, in the Greater Wash area of Eastern England.
