The site is owned by Hainsford Energy, which in 1992 installed 9 300kW turbines on land adjacent to the East Pier Port of Blyth for one of the first wind farms to built in the UK.

In REpower's first UK sale of the turbine, the 3.4M104 will replace the existing machines, with installation beginning in the spring. Later stages will see the installation of six more turbines, increasing capacity at the site to 23.8MW.
