SSE says it has submitted a robust defence against a claim from Fluor of £300m ($382m) for time and costs alleged to have been incurred carrying out additional testing and repairs of welds on foundations at the behest of the developers. “A formal arbitration process will resolve the dispute in due course,” SSE says.

The developers are pursuing their own claim, based on a “need for assurance as to the structural integrity” of 52 lower (monopile) and upper foundations (transition pieces) used in the early stage of the development.
