The two projects are Centrica's 580MW Race Bank development and Warwick Energy's 560MW Dudgeon wind farm, both in the Greater Wash. The pair represent around £3bn ($4.7bn) of new investment.
However, a planning application for Centrica’s Docking Shoal wind farm, also off the Norfolk coast, has been refused due to the potential impact on seabirds in the area.
“The UK is racing ahead of the global field and these two new offshore wind farms underline this momentum,” claims energy minister Charles Hendry.
