The initiative echoes a 5GW proposal tabled last month by Dublin-based developer Mainstream Renewable Power – but Element has the advantage of having obtained a firm 3GW grid-connection offer from the UK’s National Grid.
Element’s ambitious plan – named “Greenwire” – represents a bet against the UK’s onshore and offshore wind sectors, which remain hindered by regulatory uncertainty.
