Enel Green Power commissions 48MW wind farm in Romania

Italian renewables giant Enel Green Power (EGP) has fully grid-connected its 48MW Moldova Noua wind farm in the Banat region of Romania.

The plant comprises 21 Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines. EGP had already brought 25MW of its capacity on line in December last year.

EGP obtained €112m ($140m) in financing from the Danish government’s Export Credit Agency to cover part of the investments needed for the Moldova Noua and Corugea wind farms.

“We are moving forward with our strategy of strengthening our renewable energy output in Romania,” says EGP chief executive Francesco Starace. “The commencement of operations at Moldova Noua, within the timeframe we had set, is an important step in this direction.”

EGP currently has wind farms totalling 292MW operating in Romania (including Moldova Noua), and others under construction totalling 206MW.
