Iberdrola and Neoenergia, in which the Spanish group has a 39% stake, now have 10 wind farms in the construction phase in Brazil, with a total of 288MW of capacity.

Calango consists of five wind farms of 30MW each, and is expected to become operational in late 2013.

The other five wind farms – Mel 2 (20 MW) and Arizona 1 (28 MW) and the three-wind-farm Caetité complex (90 MW) – are already at an “advanced stage” of development, Iberdrola says.
