The company had planned to finish installing the 40MW Butter Creek project by the end of this year. But work has been halted at the wind farms after the Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) in the US ruled they were located near or on restricted Navy airspace and could present a national security risk.
A Sany Electric sales manager says the firm has just begun looking for alternative projects to deploy the shipment of 2MW turbines, but could give no further details on possible sites.
