GL Garrad Hassan nabs Celtic Array met mast contract

Centrica-Dong joint venture Celtic Array has tapped renewable energy consultants GL Garrad Hassan to design and run an offshore meteorological mast system on its giant UK Round 3 Irish Sea zone.

The system being supplied for the Irish Sea project, located 15km north of Anglesey, includes a meteorological mast, power supply system, navigational aids and full suite of measurement equipment.

The zone is made up of three PDAs (potential development areas), including the 2.2GW Rhiannon wind farm development.

"This high profile Round 3 project [will give us] the opportunity to use what our Measnet-accredited measurement group has learnt over the past decade from working in the challenging offshore environment in the Irish Sea, North Sea, Baltic and Canada," says Colin Morgan, GL Garrad Hassan's Head of Offshore Wind Practice.
