The project’s co-owners AGL Energy and Meridian Energy say today's milestone comes after almost two years of work at the wind farm.

All 140 Vestas 3MW turbines are due to be operational by early 2013 at Macarthur, which is being built for the co-developers by the Danish wind manufacturer and local partner Leighton Contractors.

AGL and New Zealand-based Meridian say they have pumped more than A$10m into local infrastructure such as roads via the project, which covers a site of about 5,500 hectares.
