The Spanish wind turbine giant says it plans to make the Scottish port "a major offshore manufacturing base in the UK, including blades, nacelles, port logistics and O&M services."
The company had also been considering Hartlepool, eastern England, but will now work towards a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with Leith.
“Selection of Leith as our preferred partner for the MoU aimed at establishing a UK manufacturing base is only a first stage, but an important one,” says Gamesa chief executive Jorge Calvet.
