Wind energy is booming in Oklahoma but with installations at a fraction of their 500GW potential “there is still a lot of room to grow”, state Energy Secretary Michael Ming tells Recharge.

Three years ago, the south-central US state had 831MW of installations. It ended 2011 with 2GW and could have 3GW by the end of this year. Every few months, a developer either proposes a wind farm or brings a new one into commercial operation.
