The plant will have a capacity of 140 machines annually and is due to begin production in 2013.

The factory will supply Uruguay, the northeast part of Argentina and Brazil, as well as export markets in the Americas, Asia and Africa.

Argentinian group Impsa will additionally build a development facility for large-scale equipment for both hydro- and wind-power near its existing factory in the port of Suape, in Brazil's northeastern Pernambuco state.

Impsa also plans a R$30m electronics factory to supply its wind turbines with converters.
