Kongsberg buys Norwegian wind specialist InTurbine
Norwegian offshore technology specialist Kongsberg Maritime has bought compatriot renewable and wind power consultancy InTurbine.
The acquisition of InTurbine is designed to support the operations and expansion of Kongsberg’s recently-opened Centre for Wind Farm Management (CWFM).
“The employees of InTurbine have substantial competence gained at the former wind turbine supplier ScanWind and later as part of GE’s commitment to offshore wind in [Norway],” says Kongsberg Maritime general manager Andreas Jagtøyen.
“This acquisition will form a solid basis for further development of our new department [for] the operation and maintenance of wind turbines under the name Kongsberg Wind Services.”
The CWFM, a joint venture between Kongsberg Maritime and parent company Kongsberg Gruppen, was established to develop wind farm control and condition monitoring systems, and to support the operation of turbines globally.
