“It’s very valuable for Vestas and the development of the V164 that Dong is so actively stepping in to directly participate in further developing and testing of the turbine,” a Vestas spokesman tells Recharge.
“It is a great opportunity for Vestas to have one of the world’s most experienced offshore wind farm operators involved,” he adds.
By moving the full testing programme to Østerild rather than carrying out the first stage at Dong’s Frederikshavn facility, the Danish developer is getting its hand in about six months earlier than originally planned.
