The decision means that Dong will test Vestas’ turbine onshore, rather than offshore at Frederikshavn as foreseen in the original agreement signed by the pair.
As a result of the new deal, Dong will get involved in the V164 project at the prototype stage, rather than testing a “pre-series” or serial machine later on.
The companies are not commenting on any financial arrangements involved under Dong's revised role, which will allow it to gain “insight” into the turbine at an earlier stage.
