Danish developer Orsted has signed an agreement to sell a 50% stake in its 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm in the North Sea off the English east coast to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

Orsted said the total price of the transaction is about £4.46bn ($5.86bn), which includes a commitment by GIP to fund 50% of the payments under an EPC contract for the entire wind farm, including the transmission assets.
