At first glance, Brazil's long-awaited A-6 tender on August 31 seemed to mark the recovery of a wind power market stalled by a tough economy and an even worse political crisis.

The tender saw 1.3GW of new wind capacity contracted to supply power at record low prices of R$90.45/MWh ($22.53) for 20-years starting in 2024, delivered via tried and tested local-currency PPAs.
