Wind farms supplied a record 98% of power demand in Brazil's Northeast Region at one point during the morning of 19 August, the Brazilian Wind Power Association (ABEEólica) said.

Over the course of that entire day, a Sunday, wind supplied 63% of the power in Brazil’s Northeast Region, the country’s second most populous region with around 50 million people. That was 6% above the amount projected by the National Grid Operator (ONS).
