A unit of Caithness Energy is asking utility regulators in Montana to establish energy payment terms and conditions covering four proposed projects totaling 320MW of wind and 160MW/640MWh of battery storage.

Caithness Beaver Creek was unable to reach agreement over capacity payments with Northwestern Energy, the state’s largest utility, for the projects that it wants to develop as qualifying facilities under the 1978 Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA).
