Onshore turbine OEM Enercon has announced a shift in focus to international markets in response to a “slump” in orders at home in Germany, in a strategic shift that will see hundreds of jobs cut in the German wind supply chain.
Enercon said cracking new markets such as Mexico, Vietnam and South Africa will be its priorities from now onwards, with the local content requirements of many emerging wind nations causing a fundamental rethink of its supplier base.
