Two major Belgian offshore wind projects – Mermaid and Seastar – have merged and will continue development as Seamade.

The newly-consolidated Seamade project company will advance 487MW in the Belgian North Sea using Siemens Gamesa’s latest 8MW turbine.

Seamade is 70% owned by Belgian renewables consortium Otary. Engie-owned local utility Electrabel holds 17.5% and Dutch power group Eneco – a new addition to the project’s ownership base – 12.5%.
