The 21.7MW Icebreaker offshore wind project in Lake Erie has passed one of its final hurdles before construction by gaining a recommendation for a conditional approval from the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB), which has to approve all new generation projects in the US state.

In its Staff Report of Investigation – a prerequisite for final approval – the OPSB staff recommends the board gives a green light for the project under several conditions, most notably a monitoring plan on avian and bat impact mitigation.
