Private equity and infrastructure investor Omnes Capital and Finnish wind power group Ilmatar Windpower have launched a joint venture platform called Ilmatar Energy that aims to build and operate 1GW in wind power in Finland and the Nordic region.

Ilmatar Energy has already acquired a first 200MW project from state-owned Finnish company Metsähallitus that is aimed to be built without subsidies, but is also “well-positioned to participate in [Finland’s] upcoming renewable energy premium scheme,” the two companies said in a joint statement.
