US renewables developer Invenergy has struck a deal to sell an 80% stake in its recently completed 132MW Bishop Hill III wind farm in Illinois to utility holding company WEC Energy.

WEC, a major investor-owned utility with various subsidiaries in the upper Midwest and Great Lakes region, will pay $148m for its majority stake in the project, adding to a small but growing stable of in-house renewables in its otherwise fossil fuel-dominated fleet.
