The UK needs to provide a route to market for “low cost, low risk” onshore wind if it is to meet its own emissions targets and avoid unnecessary costs for consumers, said a key advisory body to the nation’s government.

In its annual progress report to the UK’s Parliament, the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) said Britain is off course to meet the legally-binding targets under its fourth and fifth carbon budgets, which between them cover emissions reductions between 2023 and 2032.
