Vineyard Wind has awarded a contract to WSP USA and Wood Thilsted to provide detailed design of foundations for its 800MW project facing Massachusetts, the largest US offshore wind development to date.
Contract details were not made public. Project owners Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Investment Partners expect to utilize 8-10MW turbines.
Last month, V ineyard Wind won the state’s landmark first offshore wind tender with 800MW of capacity in competition with prominent regional offshore developer Deepwater Wind and a group comprising Denmark’s Orsted and Eversource Energy, the second largest electric utility in Massachusetts.
