A report measuring the UK’s progress in decarbonisation to be published next week will include new scenarios on how to cut emissions in the cheapest way that will “align very well” with offshore wind sector ambitions to reach 30GW off Britain by 2030, said a key government adviser on energy.

Julia King, who also has the title of Baroness Brown of Cambridge, serves as deputy chair of the Committee on Climate Change, an adviser to the UK government, and chairs the government-industry body the Carbon Trust.
