Julia King, Baroness Brown of Cambridge, has been named to take over the chair of British government-industry body the Carbon Trust from James Smith, former chairman of Shell UK, who has served in the post since 2011.

Among her other roles, Baroness Brown, who takes up the Carbon Trust chair from July, also serves as deputy chair of the Committee on Climate Change, which advises the UK government and devolved administrations, is Britain’s Low Carbon Business Ambassador, a non-executive Director of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and a council member of Innovate UK.
