US utility groups Westar Energy and Great Plains Energy have cleared the final regulatory hurdle in their long-planned merger, with the combined entity – known as Evergy – to be a national leader in the wind capacity on its system.
Kansas-based Westar and Missouri-based Great Plains have spent two years working to convince shareholders and regulators of the logic behind their tie-up, but the work has finally paid off.
