Denmark’s Ørsted has secured approval from US federal regulators for its site-assessment plan (SAP) for the Ocean Wind project facing New Jersey, and announced the opening of its second US office, in Atlantic City.

The SAP approval will allow Ørsted to begin detailed studies on the 160,480-acre (650 sq km) zone it controls off the coast of New Jersey. The next step in the federal permitting process would be submitting a Construction and Operations Plan (COP), the approval of which would give Ørsted a 25-year period to build and operate offshore wind farms in the zone.
